Meadwest Vaco Office Building
Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services on the 350,000-square-foot, 10-story office building which supported the relocation of MeadWestvaco’s corporate headquarters. The structural steel-framed headquarters building is skinned with precast concrete, glass curtainwall and strip windows. The office building sits atop a 450,000-square-foot, seven-level, post-tension and cast-in-place parking garage.
There are floor to ceiling glass windows throughout the building providing views of the James River. This project was the third in the U.S. to receive a Four Globe certification from the Green Globes.
Completed in 2010, the project finished on time with zero injuries despite the challenging logistics of performing work in a tight, urban environment. Old Dominion Insulation contracted with Atlantic to perform the work. Whiting Turner was the general contractor.
Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services for the 1.6-million-square-foot, three-building mixed-use project. The development includes a combination of office, residential, hotel and retail spacees. It sits on a seven-acre site in one of the District of Columbia’s newest developments””NoMa, short for North of Massachusetts Avenue.
The overall project includes two office buildings which are 357,000 square feet and 612,000 square feet, and a 446,000-square-foot mixed-use building with a 50,000-square-foot grocery store; 128,453-square-foot, 204-room hotel; and 440 apartments.
Completed in 2010, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Insulation contracted with W.E. Bowers to perform the work. Clark Construction Group was the general contractor.
