Digital Realty Data Center

Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services for the two-story, 214,000-square-foot data center facility, which is the fourth building to be developed at the company’s primary Ashburn campus. The building shell and core was completed in 2012 followed by the first three 1.125 megawatt, purpose-built data centers, completed in 2013. Digital Realty is the leading global provider of data center space.
Microsoft Data Center (BN1-4)
Boynton, VA
Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services for the Microsoft data center located in the 175-acre Boydton Plank Road Industrial Park. The center uses modular technology and advanced cooling mechanics to bolster the Microsoft’s cloud computing platform. The new data center serves as Microsoft’s East Coast hub for on-line services and joins other Microsoft centers in Chicago, San Antonio, Quincy, Washington and Dublin, Ireland.
DBT DATA Tier III Data Center
Harrisonburg, VA
Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services for 100,000 square feet of raised floor data center space on a 13-acre site. It is the only data center in Maryland and Virginia with a Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, which establishes industry standards for a data center’s performance and efficiency. The facility also has a LEED Silver certification.
The project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Insulation contracted with AMS to perform the work.
ACC 1-6 Data Centers
Ashburn, VA
Old Dominion Insulation provided mechanical and plumbing insulation services for six critical facility data centers offering uninterrupted services for internet service providers. The buildings were constructed with the anticipation for multiple data storage tenants with different size requirements within each building. Each project had a very aggressive schedule due to the growing demand for data storage. At the time of completion, it was largest facility of its kind in the United States.
Old Dominion Insulation contracted with John J. Kirlin to perform the work.
